Review: ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’

Mumbai: Cool foreign locales, ravishing Sushmita Sen, SRK in a cameo, you name it and ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ has everything to make it a big blockbuster! Yet, a typical Bollywood potboiler blessed with a pedestrian and predictable script digs the grave of the film.
Directed by Mudassar Aziz, ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ stars Fardeen Khan, Sushmita Sen and Ishita Sharma in lead roles along with Shah Rukh Khan in a guest appearance. The film that is extensively shot in the breathtaking locales of Trinidad and Tobago has nothing new to offer in terms of storyline and narration.

‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ is the story of Tej Dhanraj (Fardeen Khan), a bachelor-billionaire-playboy whose father’s (Randhir Kapoor) will asks him to marry his friend’s daughter in order to inherit the fortune. Out of luck and cash, our NRI hero comes to Punjab – a la ‘Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge’ and gets married to a village belle Samarpreet Kapoor (Ishita Sharma) only to ditch her later. However, the gaon-ki-gori traces her wild husband in Trinidad only to realize that she was cheated.

Here enters Shimmer (Sushmita Sen), a supermodel who transforms Samarpreet from a demure village girl to a diva Samara so much so that Tej hardly recognizes her real self – ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ with a twist!

For all diehard fans of Shah Rukh Khan, the actor appears towards the end of a ‘karwa chauth’ number while the film has already bombarded its viewers with a heady dose of candyfloss stuff.

In all, ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ could have been made much better only if director Mudassar Aziz didn’t come from the old school of clichéd filmmaking! The dialogues are stale, Sushmita Sen fakes her accent, Ishita Sharma sparks in bits and pieces while Fardeen Khan is forgettable. Johnny Lever is wasted and Howard Rosemeyer is completely over the top.

In the end, with an expected storyline and mediocre performances, watch ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ at your own risk!
