Hotshot RJ (Himesh) gets divorced with his wife Pooja (Sonal) on her insistence because she feels they lacked compatibility. However, they continue to remain friends. This leaves him utterly confused in his daily life. He encounters Shanaya Dhingra (Shenaz) in a misunderstood situation and ends up insulting her. But more chance meetings later, they end up becoming good friends. Shanaya ends up being a ray of sunshine in Vivan’s dull personal life. But Shanaya and Vivan’s friendship leads to Pooja getting extremely jealous. Situation becomes more complicated for Vivan as Shanaya’s parents mistake him for being their daughter’s boyfriend. Then there is also a reality show on Vivan’s radio channel which has Shanaya posing as his lover. What all further complicated confusions it all leads forms the rest of this utterly confused film!

The thing that you keep realizing while watching Radio is that, more than its characters, it’s the makers who are more confused and complicated! Structuring the narrative in chapter format ala Tarantino doesn’t quiet work with this one. All those, ‘3 weeks later’, ‘few hours later’ make it unintentionally hilarious. There is however a decent attempt at trying to convey an identifiable situation of many an urban couple’s lives. But then again unwanted songs and situations that over stay their time limit, bungle it all up. Director Ishan Trivedi delivered a light hearted satirical comedy with his debut directorial venture 7 ½ Phere and was quiet entertaining. But alas, same can’t be said about Radio. The film attempts to be too cool in every department and ends up getting all messed up. The climax too is extra stretched and you actually lose interest as to who is going to end up with what! Then again Paresh Rawal’s character, doesn’t really evoke the expected laughter that it should.

Himesh tries and succeeds in putting up a better act than his last two acting ventures. Shenaz is very good. Sonal despite a good screen presence fails to impress but the fault lies with her confused characterization. Zakir Hussain playing Shenaz’s father has his funny moments. Rajesh Khattar as Himesh’s boss is nice.

Paresh Rawal in a special appearance is a let down.

The only one department which leaves you mighty impressed is Himesh’s music. Mann Ka Radio, Teri Meri Dosti Ka and Zindagi Jaise Ek Radio being the pick of the lot.

Radio is only for die hard Himesh fans, so if you are not one, don’t even dare to try it.

THE STORY

From the misty pages of history comes a story of extreme valor, fierce pride and poignant love.

As the British enslave India with their devious ‘Divide and Rule policy’, kings and nawabs fall to their guile and cunning, and entrust their precious kingdoms to the foreigners.

Except for the brave Pindaris, who prefer death to dishonor and will fight to their last breath to save their land…their mother.

The bravest, the toughest, the strongest of the Pindaris is Veer. As Veer takes on the might of the British Empire, he also has to fight the conniving King of Madavgarh as well his own jealous tribesmen.

Arjun, an abandoned child, ran away from an uncle who was his only family in an unfamiliar land. He roamed the streets of London struggling to pursue his sole dream of foraying into the world of music and showmanship. He forged a band with Zoheb (Rannvijay Singh) and Wasim (Aditya Roy Kapoor), two brothers who’d duped their relatives in Pakistan to travel to London in pursuit of their musical aspirations, and Priya (Asin), a beautiful and young music enthusiast.

Far away in Punjab (India), Mannu took to playing in local wedding bands to make ends meet. Shortly after bringing Mannu to London to make him a part of his band, Arjun realized that he had blundered by creating the biggest threat and obstacle to his ambition.

Manu, incredibly gifted, became an instant opiate of the masses with his unique and irreverent style of performing. What took Arjun years to achieve, Mannu did overnight. Arjun felt betrayed by the God to whom he’d surrendered everything in exchange for eminence in music. His (Arjun’s) pangs of jealousy and insecurity became worse when Mannu won over his secret love, Priya.

Battling his inner demons and consumed by rage, Arjun devised a sinister plan to destroy his best friend and adversary. Over a three-city tour spanning Paris, Rome and Amsterdam, Arjun sent a naïve Mannu on a downward hurtling rollercoaster ride of sex and drugs before a grand finale at the historic Wembley Arena, where Arjun hoped to regain and enjoy his moment of glory.

But as a rude shock awaited Arjun, it also turned into a humbling and introspective experience that taught him the real meaning of acceptance.

From Vipul Shah, the maker of supreme blockbusters as Namastey London and Waqt, London Dreams, lavishly mounted and embellished, is an intense and powerful drama about passion, ambition, envy and realization, with a distinct musical backdrop. What starts off as a seemingly innocuous encounter on the same flight back to Mumbai-ends up as a rollercoaster ride through some of the darkest hours of Mumbai-as they see the city get swamped with disaster and loss, and are forced to stick together in this time of crisis.

The story shifts perspective between the past and the present- a glorious but crazy past of two starkly different people falling in love-the differences at first being exciting. Gradually with time, they journey through the emotional pitfalls attached, the constant bickering, the frantic and urgent making up, and irreconcilable differences-that give way to a final break up. And then we see those very people struggling their way through a stormy night in Mumbai that threatens to take over the city, their fears and insecurities lying bare as their guard drops.

As emotions run high, the two learn more about each other on that night possibly than they knew in all those years of being together- tough situations call on some important revelations and they realize how transient and unpredictable life is and they need to make the most of the time that has been given to them together.

So when life pulls them in different directions, they decide to go with the flow. “These Heer-Ranjha, Romeo-Juliet type couples exist only in story books”, Jai says. In the real life, we have to be practical.
London, San Francisco, Delhi – 2009. Veer Singh is struck by the thunderbolt when he sees Harleen for the first time. Soon after, he stands under a tree and swears that “in this life and every life hereafter, Hareleen Kaur will be my life” He travels a thousand kilometres by train to stand under her balcony only to have a glimpse of her face. And yet not speak a word with her. Delhi, Calcutta – 1965.
Veer does not understand how Jai can treat matters of the heart without passion, like a financial transaction. Jai does not understand how Veer Singh could have been so naïve and silly about Harleen in the days of his youth.

But as both stories unfold, we realize that the process of relationship might be different in different eras, but the experience of being in love remains the same.

So there is the frolic and despair of modern living. The liberation and confusion. And there is the past – the times of innocence and compulsion.

And there is distance, and the fondness that increases with distance. Gaps widen between two people, but bridges keep growing too.

Luck is a story about this boy, Ram Mehra (Imran Khan), who is burdened by a lot of circumstantial problems, and reaches a point in life, where he has the capacity, but no opportunity, to come out of the mess that unfortunately life has offered him.

They say: LUCK IS WHEN OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS AND YOU ANSWER.

Something like this happens to Ram, and as he accepts the opportunity, by chance encounters, Ram recognizes his own strengths to pull him through the difficult times that lie ahead………

Only he did not know, that the problems do not end, but a game of betrayal and putting his luck at test at every step starts……

He has to conquer the hurdles raised by Moussa played by Sanjay Dutt to win this game of Money, greed and the biggest addiction of betting………

The story revolves around Nandu, who is an orphan. At a very young age, he knew and saw the hard realities of life and had but no choice to learn the guerilla antics of survival in the concrete jungle called Mumbai. Entering the world of crime was the only path available to him and he had done it almost relentlessly. He turned into an assassin… he had murdered his first victim at a tender age of 9.

Nandu found his family, his friendship all in one person, his aid Shekhar. Nandu grew up to be a cold-blooded assassin and Shekhar the getaway specialist. Together they bonded and had deep sense of understanding, they were each other’s best comrade’s.

The opposition leader Anna Mhatre hires Nandu for a unique job. He wants Nandu to make an assassination attempt on him while he is addressing a rally for his election campaign, and Mhatre’s motive is to create a sympathetic wave so as to tide over the elections into an overwhelming victory.
Nandu and Shekhar prepare for the job and on the day of the rally all seems to be going as planned. But just before Nandu is able to lock his target, another shot is fired leading to the cold blooded murder of Anna Mhatre. The movie takes turn from this angle further.

Will Nandu be able to come out of the crisis? Who is the real killer of Anna Mhatre? The movie tells the real story about that.

EK- THE POWER OF ONE is a journey that Nandu undertakes and in the process learns the true meaning of life. In the movie Ray Acharya (Neil Nitin Mukesh), a struggling photographer has nothing going for him. But soon after, he gets a ’special’ camera from his grandfather, which changes his life.

The movie shows his rags to riches journey, at the same time he meets the love of his life, Simi (Bipasha Basu) who is an exciting sexy DJ with a mind of her own. Everything is hunky dory and moving towards ‘happily ever after’.

As they say with great power comes great responsibility and in Ray’s case, also great danger. He must now face up to the dark side of reality and win not only against the evil forces but also against fate.

Before this, the movie was in controversy in front of music. Music director Pritam had denied to work for the movie, as producers wanted to tamper the original music of R D Burman.

The story sees Roshan (Abhishek Bachchan) who brings his ailing grandmother back to India. She wants to die in her own country and so prepares for the inevitable. An America-born Roshan does not know about food, culture, sounds, religion and beliefs that make up Indian society.

When Roshan comes to India, he engages with his grandmother’s neighbourhood and becomes the part of the community. But Roshan does not know that these people have decided to take advantage of Roshan’s candid nature.

The story is shown against the backdrop of the ancient city of Delhi which is completely different from New Delhi. The city is almost a character in itself, representing the chaos of India, the people, their religions and their beliefs. The movie may be one of the biggest movies of 2009.

The music of the film has been composed by none other than A.R. Rahman and lyrics have been penned by Prasoon Joshi. Sonu Nigam, Mohit Chauhan and Sukhwinder Singh have sung the songs.

The story of the film revolves around Sona (Konkona Sen Sharma) comes in Bombay and she wants to become a film star at any cost and strives very hard. She stays in a rented flat and contributes time for her friends who also want to fulfill their dreams.

Vikram (Farhan Akhtar) has come to Mumbai leaving his parents’ Delhi home. Abhimanyu (Arjun Mathur) stands by Farhan who does a job for a television station. Sona starts to like Vikram’s company and enjoy his affections. A romantic relationship is developed between them.

On the other hand Rolly (Rishi kapoor) is a talented producer who likes to team up with the biggest stars only.

Zaffar Khan (Hrithik Roshan) is the favorite hero of Rolly (Rishi Kapoor).
Now Vikram’s life changes and he got an opportunity to work with Rolly.

Rishi Kapoor is the successful producer in the film while Juhi Chawla is playing the role of his wife. Dimple Kapadia is also playing a lead role in the film.

Kareena Kapoor, Salman Khan, Rani Mukerji, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Shilpa Shetty will also be seen in special appearance in the film like ‘Om Shanti Om’. The lyrics of the film have been written by none other Javed Akhtar and the music directors are Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy.
