hum-phirr-mileingeHum Phirr Mileinge: For true romantics at heart

Rating: 3.5 out of 5*

Starring: Sarvar Ahuja, Kkhushi, Vikram Gokhale, Kiran Kumar, Smita Jaykar and Riya Sen in Sp. App

Director: Manish Goel

Sarvar is a fun loving youth and spends most of his time with his group of friends staying in a hill station town. His first encounter with the beautiful Kkhushi is not such a pleasant one as both end up banging each other’s cars. But slowly friendship develops between the two. In fact, gradually Sarvar ends up falling in love with the soft spoken Kkhushi. But when she too starts having feelings in her heart for him, she is timely cautioned by her best pal who reminds her of her orthodox family and her impending arranged marriage back in Delhi. Sarvar senses something amiss in her behaviour when he starts being more expressive about his affection for her. Finally when he expresses his love for her she tells him the truth about what is stopping her from falling in love with him. When she is leaving back for Delhi, she gives him a glimmer of hope by agreeing upon taking a chance with destiny to see if they are really meant for each other. She writes her address on a Rs. 100 note and drops it into a donation box and tells him that if he manages to find this note again and the address written on it, then he can come over to that address and they can take their love forward. How Sarvar goes to Delhi and manages to find the note what destiny is in store for him when he finally manages to reach her house forms the rest of the film.

Hum Phirr Mileinge may be a small film but it has a big heart. It’s a simple tale narrated with utmost sincerity. Debutante director Manish Goel has delivered a good film and has emerged as a superb story teller. With no single moment wasted on unnecessary time pass, it gets straight to the point and moves ahead. After a long time, pure hearted romance has been so effectively captured on screen. The emotional moments are well handled without going melodramatic. The biggest assets of the film are its beautiful songs and effective dialogues. Sandesh Shandilya’s music is amongst his finest till date. He is well aided by lyricist Irshad Kamil. Songs such as Mein Ro Na Padu, Tere Dar Ke Sivah are simply melodious whereas Riya Sen’s item song by Sunidhi Chauhan Sajan Mera is full of zing.

Yesteryears actress and show host Tabassum’s grand daughter Kkhushi is extremely charming in her debut act. She has the right amount of innocence and expressive face and fits the role perfectly. Sarvar Ahuja, the winner of Zee Cinestars Ki Khoj shows tremendous improvement over his last outings. Vikram Gokhale as Kkhushi’s father reminds us of his Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam act. Kiran Kumar is back in form after a long time. Kunal Kumar as Sarvar’s friends brings some good laughs. Riya Sen is super hot in her item song.

After a long time, a film that one can call truly romantic has come out. It’s a pure family entertainer. One just hopes this underdog film gets its right due. Just don’t miss it if you are a true romantic at heart.
